ABOUT THE GALLERY

Leonid Shishkin Gallery (est.1989) specialises in Russian, British and European figurative art of the XX century making an emphasis on the plein air and impressionist oil paintings. We also offer a range of works on paper starting from original drawings and pastels, book illustrations to etchings and costume and set designs by the best theatre and cinema artists. Our collection of sculptures includes original works in bronze, ceramics and porcelain. 
Russian academicians Dmitry Nalbandian, Alexander Gerasimov, Yury Pimenov and acclaimed British RA and NEAC members Ken Howard, Ian Houston, along with many other talented artists that followed in their work the plein air and impressionist path are the mainstream of our collection.
Apart of being a commercial gallery we’re proud to run cultural and educational projects to promote artists with a unique style which is hard to classify in terms of a certain category. Our major 2016 exhibition of Alexander Gerasimov’s (1881-1963) works at the State Historical Museum in Moscow was a huge success due to its controversial content on the border of art and political history. Our current long-term project is the Art of Nikolay Smirnov (1937-2005) which is aiming to get hold of the majority of his unique Historical Still lives and then arrange a solo show to establish a new important name and show it to the public.
